Denver, CO. 2012 will bring a nice change for many die-hard Denver Broncos fans. After 15 years of having the predominantly navy blue jerseys for home games, the Broncos will be donning the orange for all home games going forward. A few years ago, John Elway and the organization petitioned the NFL for this change, which was approved last year to begin this season. The orange is back, and is something many long time fans have been clamoring for since the team went with the new logo and the blue, back in 1997. It’s pretty amazing how the uniform itself is such a big deal for so many NFL fans across the world. The color scheme, the logo, and going with the white or the darker option for home games is such a critical element. Some teams have changed colors and logos many times over the years, while others haven’t changed much, if anything at all. Beginning this year, Nike will be the manufacturer for all official NFL jerseys, as they made a few subtle changes to give every team a slightly sleeker look. With uniforms being such a big deal to so many fans, it’s time to rank the best ones, and in “Top 7″ fashion. Here are the 7 best NFL uniforms for 2012…..
7 – New York Jets - It’s been several years now that the Jets have had their current uniform, and it is a classic. It harkens back to the days of Joe Namath and the late 60′s, when he guaranteed the win in Super Bowl III. It’s clean, with just two colors, green and white. Simple, yet trendy at the same time.
6 – Denver Broncos - The Broncos make the list because they are going with the orange, and it is a truly unique look in the NFL today. The uniform change fifteen years ago upset many fans, but most have warmed up to it and it is one of the best around. The newer, modern logo is a nice one and the team seemed to like it back in 1997….they went on to win 2 Super Bowls right away.
5 – Pittsburgh Steelers - The Steelers are one of the teams who haven’t changed much about their look over the years. If they did, it is safe to say there would be a massive revolt amongst their fans. The black and gold, representing the steel city, is absolutely perfect for this team. Any idea why they have the logo on just the right side of the helmets? Back in the early 60′s they weren’t sure they would keep the new logo for good, and at that time on gold helmets. They switched to black helmets, kept the logo on one side after a winning season in 1962, and the rest is history.
4 – Oakland Raiders - One of the most despised teams in all of sports, but they have one of the best uniforms in all of sports as well. The silver and black, and committment to excellence. How can one not think of Al Davis when looking at these duds? This logo has remained the same since the early 60′s, even with a move to L.A. from ’82-’94. Oakland went with the name “Raiders” after they initially chose “Senors”, which was the top choice in a local fan vote….The Oakland Senors? Really?
3 – Dallas Cowboys - America’s Team. The ever classic star, with blue, white, and silver. Another organization who would have a massive problem on their hands if they ever changed colors or their logo. Another case of being very simple, but such a clean, classic look. Thoughts of Roger Staubach, Tom Landry, and Tony Dorsett come to mind for many long time fans. For younger ones, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin would probably be the choice.
2 – New England Patriots - Red, white, and blue….with a touch of silver. It only makes sense that the Patriots have America’s colors, right? The new logo was adopted back in 1993, and is simply one of the best around. The team has tinkered with the uniforms slightly over the years, but the colors will probably never change. Drew Bledsoe and Tom Brady have helped make this uniform one of the best for almost two decades now.
1 – San Diego Chargers - First of all, the lightning bolt is perfect for this city and this team. But the powder blue makes this the best uniform in the entire league. It is so unique, as most other teams that use blue, go with a much darker variety. In fact, the Chargers went this way for a long time during the 80′s and 90′s as well. They had the much darker navy blue as their primary color, and it just didn’t look nearly as sharp as the current powder blue does. This is, hands down, the best uniform in the NFL today.

CactusJoey- PLEEESE Don’t vote for a Powder blue uniform and then preface it with a support for the Pittsburgh Steelers. If you’re a Steelers fan Then BLACK and GOLD are the ONLY colors!!

why not next invent an electronic uniform that flashes different colors and or off colored patterns when a player or squad makes a big play or even appears to catch fire or freeze solid….

Clearly the author of this article is an old guy. Steelers? Cowboys? JETS? Lame. Why not throw up the Browns and Bears uni’s, as well, since you are clearly going for the exciting and edgy look (eye-roll). The Chargers? Argentina soccer is the *only* sport in the world that can get away with baby blue, and it does not bode well for American football to be compared with soccer.

I AGREE ON THE #1 UNIFORM,LOVE THAT BLUE.BUT AFTER THAT, THE BLACK & GOLD HAS GOT TO BE #2!!!!! AND BY THE WAY THAT IS THE ONLY TIME PITTSBURGH IS #2 GO STEELERS.
