Phoenix, AZ – In a rare Saturday afternoon matchup on the NBA schedule, the Denver Nuggets faced the Phoenix Suns in a matchup of playoff hopefuls. Defense was apparently optional with both squads for most of this contest, and it was the Nuggets who held on to get a key road victory. With the win, Denver clinches a playoff spot for the ninth consecutive season. They still have 3 games left on the schedule, Sunday vs Orlando, Wednesday at Oklahoma City, and Thursday at Minnesota. The results of those upcoming battles will play a part in who the Nuggets will face when the post-season begins next weekend. Clinching a berth now is important because it will give Coach George Karl an opportunity to get some guys some extra rest if necessary. Once all of the NBA games have concluded on Thursday night, all best of 7 first round matchups will then be known.
