Golden, CO – Fossil Trace Golf Course www.fossiltrace.com not only offers a challenging 18 hole golf course, but also a blast to the past with prehistoric relics along with old mining equipment, the view is as good as the course. Located just 15 minutes from downtown Denver, come hit the links amid Triceratops footprints.

Golfers can make tee times online or over the phone but bring the big bills here. Golden residents pay $43 to walk and $60 with cart M-Th and $48 to walk and $65 with cart Friday to Sunday. Non-residents will have to fork over $58 to walk and $75 with cart M-Th and $62 to walk and $79 with cart Friday to Sunday. The men have 5 tee boxes to choose from with distances ranging from 5559 yards from the whites to 6831 yards for the black tees. Women can choose from 2 tee boxes with distances of 4681 for the Gold tees and 5197 for the Palm tees.

Right off the bat Fossil Trace starts you off with a long par 5 with a dual fairway with a slight dog leg left. Big hitters can reach the second fairway but most golfers will need their full 5 strokes to par this hole as it ranks the 3^rd most difficult hole on the course. The most challenging whole on the course is whole 9 stretching the Black tees out to 659 yards. A very straight fairway the difficulty lies in the distance – pull out the big dog and three wood and skilled golfers may be able to reach in 3 to attempt a birdie on a narrow but long green.
The back nine offers many challenges as well. The par 3 14^th hole will stretch any golfers distance with the Black tees out 231 yards so many golfers will be challenged to even par this hole and will most likely bogie the hole. Two more par 5 holes that stretch well over 500 yards include holes 12 and finishing up on hole 18 requires golfing accuracy with water to the right and bunkers surrounding the green. Hole 17 also has water on the right with a long stretch to the fairway from the tee.

Needless to say, Fossil Trace will require all golfers to bring their driver and it better come with some accuracy and distance. Hit it in the rough and plan to take a drop. The rough is all natural and deep so bring more than just one sleeve of balls.

For the 19^th hole Fossil Trace offers the Three Tomatoes Steakhouse and Pub. This may be one of the best golf course restaurants around. If you just want a quick snack the Pub Bites are served from 11AM to close and offers Fried Calamari, Steakhouse Nachos, Fossil Burger, Grilled Ham and Cheese and my favorite the Smothered House Burrito. The Lunch Menu includes salads, burgers and a wide selection of sandwiches. Hungrier for more? – try a Foccacia Pizza or Steakhouse Sirloin.

Dinner offers a traditional steakhouse menu along with one of the best views in the Denver area. Along with Appetizers and Salads the entrée section is huge. Choose from Certified Angus Beef steaks along with tasty sides such as Garlic Smashed Potatoes and Parmesan Truffle Fries as well as many sauces to add to your steak. Other entrees include Crispy Roast Duck Breast, Steakhouse Pot Pie and a Lamb Sirloin. Desserts include a smooth Crème Brulee, “Fore” Layer Chocolate Cake, Apple Cobbler and a rich Chocolate Pots De Crème.
